That’s Not Vague at All: Bond #23 Will Be ‘Shocking’

In an interview for Austrian newspaper Kurier (get your Babelfish ready), screenwriter Peter Morgan (“The Queen”, “Frost/Nixon”, “Last King of Scotland”) talks about his script for 007′s next romp, saying only that it will be a “shocking story”.

Morgan finished his script in October this year, but due to MGM’s financial status, production is on hiatus.

You can be sure that whether MGM goes bankrupt or gets sold (likely candidate: WB), the Bond franchise will be fast-tracked immediately.

What’s got us and several Bond fan sites wondering is: what will make it so shocking? Here’s a few of our ideas:

  • Judi Dench will be the next Bond girl.
  • There won’t be a Bond girl in the next film at all. Bond goes bi.
  • Someone is killed off. Being there’s only 3 constant characters in the film and it can’t be James, who will it be? Felix? M? That’s about as “shocking” as you can get.
  • Unless of course he means that they will axe the whole purpose of the reboot and return to the campy and bizarre plot twists of the Moore and Brosnan eras, then yes, we will be thoroughly shocked.

Got an idea of what might happen in the next film? Feel free to sound off. We’ll bring you more updates on both 007 and MGM as they happen.

  1. I would be extremely shocked if the next Bond flick was shot with an average shot length that’s longer than 2 1/2 seconds and with comprehensible fight scenes. That would be incredible.
